This campaign is to inspire all parents to

 Be There for their children.

Each month CMS will share a suggestion on ways to take a more active role in their child's education.

-Have your child help you sort the laundry.  Make up a story together about the "laundry monster" who likes to confuse people with look-alikes.   Be There.

-When driving in the car, ask your young child to find the letters of the alphabet in signs you pass.  With teenagers, ask them to help you calculate how many miles per gallon you're getting with each automobile you drive. Be There.

 Important News

The Free Athletic Physical will be held on Tuesday, May 8th at 4:30pm. Those eligible are upcoming 9th graders and above. Students must have a physical form with the history section filled out and signed in the three appropriate places denoted on the form prior to the examination. Any student not having this form signed by the appropriate parent or guardian prior to coming to the examination cannot and will not be examined. The signatures are required on pages 1, 2 and 4. Physical forms may be picked up from Mrs. Goddard's office in the CHS large gym or Coach Woodard at CMS. Students should come to the examination prepared for blood pressure checks and heart rate checks. It would be best if they not drink "Power Drinks" at least 3 days prior to the physicals being performed since this invariably raises blood pressure and may discount them from participation. The upcoming 9th graders will be bused over to the high school and all students participating in the examination will be bused over to the West Georgia Tech Callaway Auditorium at 4:00. No student is allowed to drive to West Georgia Tech. Parents should plan to pickup students at the Callaway High School Large Gym entrance around 6:30pm.

Attention Parents:

Tiffany Cindrick and Brenda Spence, Counselors at CMS, are in charge of the LEAP Program for the 2011/12 school year. LEAP is an acronym for Learn, Engage, Attend, Perform. We need mentors for the select students who will be participating in LEAP. If you are interested in being a mentor for one of these students, please call Mrs. Cindrick or Ms. Spence at (706) 845-2082 for information. The time that will be required of you will be minimal and the experience will be truly rewarding.
