This campaign that will inspire all parents to

 Be There for their children.

Each month CMS will share a suggestion on ways to take a more active role in their child's education.

-Have your child help you sort the laundry.  Make up a story together about the "laundry monster" who likes to confuse people with look-alikes.   Be There.

-When driving in the car, ask your young child to find the letters of the alphabet in signs you pass.  With teenagers, ask them to help you calculate how many miles per gallon you're getting with each automobile you drive. Be There.

 Important News

Callaway Middle School will be administering the Preliminary Scholastic Achievement Test (PSAT) on Wednesday, October 15, 2014.  We are offering this opportunity to 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in gaining experience with the PSAT.

The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are:

*To receive feedback on your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study  (You can then focus your preparation on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice.)

*To see how your performance on an admissions test might compare with that of others applying to college

*To enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (grade 11)

*To help prepare for the SAT.  You can become familiar with the kinds of questions and the exact directions you will see on the SAT.

*To receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to Student Search Service

If your child is in the 7th or 8th grade and you would like for your child to take the PSAT, please send $14 on or before Wednesday, September 3rd to the Counselor’s Office.   Checks should be made payable to Troup County School System.

If you have questions, please contact the counselor’s office at 706-845-2082.
